‘Each flitch, each board, each plank can have only one ideal use. The woodworker, applying a thousand skills, must find that ideal use and then shape the wood to realise its true potential’.
Since graduating from Three Dimensional Design, Ben has followed the path of the Journey Man and continues to do so. He thrives on learning new skills and developing making processes. His designs are fuelled by this and to a greater extent the practice of sustainable woodland management and the abundant and versatile material this provides.
This craft is ever-evolving and is responsive to the materials Ben yields in a woodland year and the new techniques practiced. Ben has worked in wood all his adult life and is ever-astounded by its beauty and warmth; even more so when working wood green from tree that he has cut himself.
